Menopause Consultation
Helping you thrive through menopause and beyond.
Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect far more than your menstrual cycle. Hot flushes, poor sleep, mood changes, weight gain, brain fog, joint pain, and reduced energy are all common, but they don’t have to become your new normal.
Through evidence-based lifestyle medicine, we help optimise nutrition, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle factors, alongside discussing appropriate medical treatments when indicated, to improve symptoms and support your long-term health.
This consultation may be right for you if you:
Are experiencing symptoms of perimenopause or menopause that area affecting your daily life.
Want to reduce your future risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, and cognitive decline.
Want to know if hormone replacement therapy is right for you.
Want to know what lifestyle changes can improve your symptoms and support your long term health.
Common Concerns We Address:
Why am I having these symptoms?
How can I improve my symptoms naturally through nutrition, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle changes?
Should I consider hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and is it safe for me?
What tests are important for me to do at this stage of life?
Would hormone testing be valuable for me at this point?
Feel like you're gaining weight more easily.
What we explore during this consultation:
Nutrition
There are several key nutrition goals in perimenopause, including supporting bone health, reducing inflammation, lowering cholesterol, reducing hot flushes, and more. We will review your nutrition and develop a personalised plan.
HRT
We will look at your medical history, symptoms, and overall health and decide if it is safe and appropriate for you to start HRT. We will never push this on you if you don't want to be on hormonal therapy.
Biomarkers
We can order comprehensive blood tests to assess your metabolic health, organ function, nutritional status, and hormonal health. Blood tests will be tailored to your needs and affordability.
Sleep
Sleep can be affected during menopause, due to hot flushes, night sweats, and insomnia. And poor sleep can impact weight gain. We will look at your daily habits and how to optimise them to improve your sleep quality.
Exercise
Exercise has an anti-inflammatory effect over the long term, and can play an important role in the prevention of osteoporosis, heart disease, cognitive decline, and weight gain.
Supplements
Some supplements may be beneficial to promote good bone health, promote restorative sleep, improve overall health, and reduce hot flushes. We will tailor your supplements to your symptoms, preferences, and affordability.
