Athletic Performance & Recovery Consultation

Balance health and performance, and optimise recovery to improve performance.

Remember that story about the fit 50 year old athlete that collapsed of a heart attack? There is so much more to health than just athletic performance, and sometimes the things we do for performance may not be the best for our health.

And performance is shaped by far more than training alone. This consultation focuses on the lifestyle and recovery factors that influence performance, energy, recovery, and long-term health.

This consultation may be right for you if you:

What we explore during this consultation:

Nutrition

We will evaluate your current nutrition and identify areas for improvement to optimise recovery as well as long-term health, with a key focus on whole foods, nutrient density, protein quantity and quality, and recovery nutrition.

Sleep & Stress

Nutrition and movement form the foundation for disease management and reversal. But chronic stress and poor sleep can contribute significantly and affect our ability to implement nutrition and exercise interventions.

Sleep

Sleep is key for recovery because it is the time when repair and growth takes place following exercise. We will evaluate your sleep habits and develop morning and evening routines to optimise the quality of your sleep.

Body Composition

We go beyond just a number on a scale and focus on optimising body composition, as fat and muscle have very different metabolic impacts on disease. We may recommend a Dexa body composition scan for you.

Biomarkers

We will do comprehensive blood results evaluating not only your overall health, but also your nutrition status and factors that could be impacting your performance. Athletes also have slightly different targets for certain biomarkers.

Biomarkers

Depending on your age, family history, and conditions, we will order blood tests to evaluate your health and biological age. Genetic testing may be added if there is a concern. Bone density and body composition can also be investigated if desired.
